Description
A relaxing massage for the body and face, using essential oils derived from plants, with the effect of reducing physical, emotional, and intellectual stress.
The mechanism of action of aromatherapy is through the olfactory pathway, whereby stimuli (volatile oil molecules) transmit information from the receptors in the nose to a part of the brain called the amygdala, or limbic system. This area controls emotions and influences the nervous system and hormones, affecting pulse, blood pressure, stress levels, breathing, memory, digestion, sleep, and the immune system. Another mechanism through which aromatherapy works is the absorption of essential oils through the skin.
Depending on the type of essential oil selected and its properties, different therapeutic benefits are targeted: calming – chamomile, lavender, geranium; revitalization – ylang-ylang, rose, neroli, sage; energizing and cleansing – rosemary; decongestion – eucalyptus, pine, tea tree.
